Wednesday's AT&T Byron Nelson Pro-Am cancelled due to rain

DALLAS - Wednesday’s Hilton Anatole Pro-Am was pushed initially pushed back and eventually cancelled due to heavy rain in the area.

A drier forecast is set for the tournament's first round on Thursday, but looming in the distance is a 60 percent chance of rain on Saturday -- typically the busiest day of the tournament when it comes to attendance.

“I know we are going to have some weather probably. We don’t know what it’s going to look like but we do know one thing. Mother’s Day looks great on Sunday,” said Bob Carter, the tournament chairman.

Carter said wet ground shouldn’t really affect the players, even if it’s a little soft.

“This course is great. We had 35 great years in Irving. We moved to Dallas last year, very proud of that and very proud of Trinity Forest. Players are going love it. Spectators like it. It’s going to be a good experience for everybody,” he said.

Last year’s winner Aaron Wise was among the players who got some practice swings in before the rain at the Trinity Forest Golf Club in southeast Dallas. Two of the game’s best – Patrick Reed and Brooks Koepka – were there as well.

Many golf fans will be keeping an eye on former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who was invited to play by the tournament’s sponsor.

“I mean, he’s going to bring fans out. I think that’s, I think that’s pretty obvious. You know everybody always has something to say about the sponsor invite. That’s up to the sponsors. They bring in who they want to bring in. You know everyone is always criticizing Romo and stuff but that’s up to the tournament who they bring in,” Koepka said.
