Jones expects Ezekiel Elliott to play Sunday

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he expects running back Ezekiel Elliott to play in Denver Sunday. The rest of the season is not so clear.

The NFL returned to court this week asking a federal judge to allow it to suspend Elliott for his off-the-field behavior.

Earlier the judge said Elliott could play and suggested the NFL’s leading rusher did not get a fair hearing before the commissioner and arbitrator.

“Well I expect him to play Sunday. And you’re keeping up with it. We got a good narration going with the media that really are doing in my mind a pretty good job of explaining it to our fans,” Jones said.

The young Cowboys running back also got some advice about his behavior from one of the country’s most recognizable sports figures – former NBA star Magic Johnson.

“Brother, you gotta get your life together, man. You gonna ruin it not only for yourself but for your family as well. And I just, I’m disappointed in him that he hasn’t realized that he has to change,” Johnson said.

Elliott was accused of domestic violence by a former girlfriend but police and prosecutors in Columbus, Ohio did not file charges.
