Wreaths Across America honors nation's fallen heroes
On Saturday, a wreath laying ceremony was held for families to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers.
"Wreaths Across America" is an annual event held at military cemeteries across the nation.
The father of Patrick Zamarripa, a Dallas police officer killed during the ambush in July of 2016, says it's a nice way to reflect on his son's life.
"It's wonderful. You know all these veterans they sacrificed their lives so we could have the freedoms that we all enjoy and take for granted and we must not forget these people," Rick Zamarripa said.
Zamarripa served in the Navy before joining the Dallas Police Department.
He served three tours in Iraq.
DFW National Cemetery is located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas.
