Woman's body found in Balch Springs apartment

BALCH SPRINGS, Texas - A suicide call at a Balch Springs apartment complex where a woman’s body was found has turned into a homicide investigation.

The original call to police Wednesday morning was about a suicide in the 12000 block of Quale Drive. But Lt. Mark Maret with the Balch Springs Police Department said detectives no longer believe that's what happened.

"Right now we have more questions than answers,” Maret said.

Police said the woman appears to be in her 20s and lived there with a young child and a female roommate.

Balch Springs police secured the scene and called the physical evidence squad of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department to document the scene and collect evidence.

Neighbor Lorenzo Miles said the uncertainty is unnerving.

"I see her like every morning or whatever going to work for baby care or day care but other than that I don't know,” Miles said.

The woman has not yet been identified until investigators reach family who may be out of state.
