Woman hit by stray bullet in far East Dallas, suspects still at large

DALLAS - A woman was hit by a stray bullet while checking on the gunshot commotion that woke her and her neighbors.

It happened early Wednesday after midnight in far East Dallas. Police believe there was a gun battle in the area because they received multiple calls of shots fired before getting the call of the injured woman. 

Dallas police found her suffering a gunshot wound to the ankle in a second story apartment. They believe a stray round went through her door.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The suspects are still at large.
