Wills Point High School teacher arrested on child sex charges

DALLAS - A now-former teacher at Wills Point High School was arrested after being accused of child sex crimes.
What we know:
The Rains County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested Jimmy Lee Hanks on Sunday evening.
He was booked into Rains County jail and charged with the continuous sexual abuse of a child.
In a letter to parents, the Wills Point Independent School District confirmed Hanks is a former teacher at Wills Point High School.
Wills Point ISD said the alleged behavior did not occur at school.
"Transparency and student safety are of the utmost importance to this office. We will continue to strive to make all WPISD stakeholders in Wills Point Proud," the district said.
Wills Point ISD said Hanks was hired as a teacher in 2023. He is no longer an employee.
What we don't know:
Neither Wills Point ISD nor the Rains County Sheriff’s Office have shared any details about the allegations against Hanks.
It’s not clear if the case involved a Wills Point ISD student, a family member, or someone else. The age of the alleged victim also wasn’t released.
The school district did not give any specifics about when Hanks’ employment ended.
His profile on the Willis Point High School website disappeared sometime between Monday and Tuesday.
