Man sentenced to 40 years for repeated sexual assault of a 7-year-old child in Frisco

McKinney, TX - A man was sentenced to 40 years in prison with no possibility of parole in McKinney after being convicted of repeatedly sexually assaulting a child who trusted him, according to McKinney’s public information office.
What we know:
William Hasley, 42, of Saline, Louisiana, was sentenced to 40 years in prison without the possibility of parole for the continuous sexual abuse of a child.
The backstory:
The abuse occurred eight years ago when the victim was 7 years old and living in Frisco. Hasley, who regularly saw the child, took advantage of a position of trust to sexually abuse the victim over several months.
What's New:
The victim, now 15 years old, recently confided in a friend about the abuse. The friend reported the abuse to Child Protective Services, beginning an investigation.
Although the victim now lives in another state, they cooperated with Frisco police, providing enough evidence for Hasley's conviction.
Hasley's Sentencing
The jury found Hasley guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony that carries a mandatory sentence without parole.
During the trial, jurors learned of Hasley's prior felony conviction and 10-year prison sentence for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. The jury ultimately sentenced him to 40 years in prison.
What they're saying:
"This child endured horrific abuse at the hands of someone they should have been able to trust," said District Attorney Greg Willis. "Thanks to the victim's bravery, the friend who spoke up, and the tireless efforts of law enforcement and our prosecutors, justice has been served. This verdict sends a clear message: no child will be ignored, and no abuser will escape accountability in Collin County."
