Two injured in officer-involved shooting in Lake Highlands

An off-duty Dallas officer shot at a suspect accused of shooting another person in Lake Highlands Friday afternoon.

Police say the shooting happened at 4:30 p.m., near the intersection of Northwest Hwy. and Plano Rd.

According to Dallas PD Major Jesse Reyes, the officer was off-duty, but in full uniform and a marked police vehicle while working an extra job as neighborhood patrol.

The officer drove up on a disturbance call and saw a man shoot another person.

According to police, the officer chased after the shooter and opened fire. It’s not yet known how many shots the officer fired.

No further details were released about the officer-involved shooting.

The person who was shot in the initial disturbance, along with the suspected shooter, are said to be in stable condition at area hospitals with suspected gunshot wounds.

The officer was not injured.

Police are continuing to investigate the initial disturbance call the officer responded to. Officers still need to speak to witnesses and evaluate evidence at the scene.
