How Texans feel about Elon Musk, Jerry Jones, Joe Rogan, Beyonce and more

Texas residents like Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Mark Cuban and Beyoncé have been in the news recently for various reasons.
A new poll asked Texans how they feel about some of those famous figures in the state.

The University Texas-Texas Politics Poll asked 1,200 Texas voters about their opinion on several famous figures in Texas.
Elon Musk
Elon Musk, who has made Texas his adopted home, was viewed favorably by 54 percent of Texans and unfavorably by 30 percent of Texans.
Musk's favorability numbers were higher among Republicans, after aligning himself with president-elect Donald Trump.
Only 27 percent of Democrats had a favorable view of Musk.
Beyoncé
Beyoncé was one of the most controversial figures on the list.
The Houston-raised signer saw a split with 39 percent of people viewing her favorably and 34 percent viewing her unfavorably, according to the poll.
The split was fairly clear along party lines, with Democrats far more likely to support Beyoncé and Republicans much more likely to think negatively about her.
Jerry Jones
Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones was the only person on the list to have more Texans view them more unfavorably than favorably.
24 percent of the respondents said they held a favorable view of Jones, while 28 percent had an unfavorable view.
Joe Rogan
Comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan made the move to Austin in recent years.
42 percent of Texans view Rogan favorably, according to the poll.
Just 21 percent viewed him unfavorably.
Mark Cuban
Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban actively campaigned for Democrat Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential campaign.
Overall, 39 percent of Texans had a favorable view of Cuban, compared to 25 percent who viewed him unfavorably.
The self-described Independent saw his numbers surge among Democrats.

There were also several celebrities on the list who saw an overwhelming amount of support from their fellow Texans.

Willie Nelson
Singer Willie Nelson was viewed the most favorably by Texans, according to the poll.
58 percent of respondents said they had a favorable view of Nelson and only eight percent had a negative opinion.
Matthew McConaughey
Actor Matthew McConaughey was also highly thought of among Texans, according to the poll.
McConaughey's had a favorability of 58 percent, while only eight percent had a negative opinion, mirroring Nelson's numbers.
Simone Biles
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles was another of the highly-favorable celebrities on the list.
The Spring, Texas resident had a 56 percent favorable rating, while eight percent viewed her unfavorably.
Nolan Ryan
Almost no Texans had negative feelings toward former Texas Rangers and Houston Astros pitcher Nolan Ryan.
Just three percent of Texans in the poll viewed The Ryan Express unfavorably.
Selena Gomez
Grand Prairie-raised singer Selena Gomez was also thought of well.
Gomez had a 49 percent favorable rating and 13 percent unfavorable rating, according to the poll.
