Despite a few sprinkles, the SPCA of Texas Strut Your Mutt event went on, as planned Saturday morning. Pet owners showed up with their animals, many of them in costume, to enjoy the festivities.

The 3k fun run/walk and 5k timed run were held to highlight the effort to end animal cruelty.

The Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit at the SPCA of Texas receives an average of 3,000-5,000 calls for help each year. As a result, more than 2,000 animals are rescued each year, according to the SPCA.

After the walk and run, participants enjoyed refreshments and family/dog-friendly activities.

Donations can be made for Strutt your Mutt through May 31st. For more information, visit www.spca.org.
