Son of Everman day care operator convicted of abusing girl

EVERMAN, Texas (AP) - Court records show the 24-year-old son of a North Texas day care operator was sentenced to 40 years in prison for molesting a girl there for at least two years.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports a Tarrant County jury convicted and sentenced Chance William Moore last month on a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child. Two other charges - indecency fondling and aggravated sexual assault - are pending.

Moore was arrested in 2016 after the now 12-year-old told her parents what was happening at the day care in Everman, near Fort Worth, and they contacted authorities.

State Child Care Licensing officials ordered the day care to stop operations after Moore's arrest. Texas Department of Family and Protective Services spokeswoman Marissa Gonzales says the operator decided to close permanently.
