Shots fired as officers try to arrest Dallas suspect
DALLAS - SWAT officers surrounded an East Oak Cliff apartment complex where a suspect fired shots at officers.
Dallas police said officers with a warrant showed up to arrest an aggravated assault suspect around 6 a.m. Thursday morning at the Rosemont Cedar Crest Apartments on Southern Oaks Boulevard.
Someone opened fire in the direction of the officers as the man ran into an apartment and barricaded himself inside, police said.
DPD's SWAT team set up a perimeter around the complex and asked some neighbors to evacuate as a precaution. A negotiator could be heard using a PA system to try to convince the suspect to surrender.
Police said the suspect and one other person came out of the apartment and both were taken into custody around 9:30 a.m. Officers searched the apartment and found no one else was inside.
No officers were injured and no officers fired their weapons, police said.
