Shots fired as officers respond to drive-by shooting

Dallas police said someone fired shots at officers as they searched for suspects in a drive-by shooting.

It happened around 2 a.m. Thursday in a field near Overton and Lancaster roads in the east Oak Cliff area. Officers were following a group of people who they wanted to question about a shooting on Biglow Street.

The home on Biglow Street had its windows blown out and there were multiple bullet marks in its wood frame, but no one was hurt. The officers took cover when they came under fire and also were not hurt.

Police ended up detaining two people, but are still looking for more suspects. They’ve recovered a handgun from a car the suspects abandoned.
