Second arrest made in Deep Ellum DART mob attack
DALLAS - Dallas police arrested a second suspect early Friday for the beating attack on a DART light rail train.
Police said Remon Hendrix was arrested around 1 a.m. Friday at Target Cityplace across the street from the Whataburger where he and his brother worked.
Police said Remon Hendrix was spotted as he showed up for work. He is charged with assault causing bodily injury, a misdemeanor.
Remon Hendrix, 23, is the older brother of Jakobi Darion Hendrix, who was arrested on Thursday in connection with Sunday night’s mob beating. He's charged with felony aggravated assault for using a skateboard to beat Kennan Jones.
Video taken by a witness shows Jones being punched and kicked by a group of people on the Green Line DART train. He told FOX 4 the mob started beating him because he told them to put out the marijuana they were smoking inside the train. The brutal beating continued on to the platform at the Deep Ellum station.
DART police say they identified some of the suspects in the attack and are working to identify the rest. A third Hendrix brother is wanted by authorities.
The viral video shows two people in the mob wearing orange Whataburger uniforms. A restaurant spokesperson released a statement saying they are appalled by what happened and are working with police to help in the investigation.
DART says it is increasing its police presence during the evening at the Deep Ellum and Baylor stations and are actively patrolling the other stations.
