Reported shooting incident at Virginia school under investigation, ATF says
WAYNESBORO, Va. - Authorities say a shooting incident at a Virginia school Wednesday morning is under investigation.
What we know:
The Washington Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said they responded to Westwood Hills Elementary School in Waynesboro around 10:50 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting.
Officials have not confirmed whether anyone was injured.
Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger said she is monitoring the emergency, writing online that her heart is with the students, families, teachers and staff at the school.
Waynesboro Public Schools says it will reunify students and families at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 1904 Mt. Vernon Street in Waynesboro. Families are being directed to the lower fellowship hall and asked to enter where signs indicate "Entry."
