Propane leak prompts early dismissal at Scurry-Rosser Middle School

Parents are being asked to pick up their students from a school in Kaufman County because of a possible propane leak.

According to the Scurry-Rosser Independent School District, a possible propane leak was detected at the middle school.

Students were moved to the high school while crews began working to locate the leak.

The district decided to dismiss students early out of an abundance of caution.

Parents are being asked to pick up their kids at the high school.

What they're saying:

"Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we take every precaution to ensure the safety of our students and staff," Scurry-Rosser ISD said in an update on social media.

What's next:

Students are not allowed to return to the middle school campus yet to pick up personal belongings. The district said it will sent out further communication to let families know when those items can be retrieved.
