SCURRY, Texas - Parents are being asked to pick up their students from a school in Kaufman County because of a possible propane leak.

The district decided to dismiss students early out of an abundance of caution.

"Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we take every precaution to ensure the safety of our students and staff," Scurry-Rosser ISD said in an update on social media.

What's next:

Students are not allowed to return to the middle school campus yet to pick up personal belongings. The district said it will sent out further communication to let families know when those items can be retrieved.
