Party and get a free ride home for New Year's Eve

The biggest celebration of the New Year in North Texas will be at Sundance Square in Downtown Fort Worth. The music starts at 10:30 p.m. and then the countdown and fireworks show follow at midnight.

There is no big New Year’s Eve party in Dallas for the first time in a decade. The organizers of Big D N.Y.E. said they hope to be back next year.

DART hopes to make sure everyone has a safe ride home. The transit agency is partnering with Miller-Coors to provide free rides on DART and the Trinity Railway Express. The Miller Lite Free Rides start at 6 p.m. and continue until 2:30 a.m.

All public transportation in the DFW area will follow a normal weekday schedule Thursday. DART will operate on a Sunday schedule and the TRE is not running on New Year’s Day.

Uber and Facebook are also joining forces to help users get home safely. Customers can tap the car icon in the Facebook Messenger app to order an Uber ride.  The ride is free up to $20.
