Parents hurry to get kids immunized before Monday
Hundreds of parents and their kids on Friday lined up at the Dallas County Health Department.
All of them were looking to get immunizations before school starts, but for those who still don't have them, there are only a few options this weekend.
Kids who don’t have their immunizations up to date can’t register or stay at school Monday; it’s state law.
“We've had free clinics all summer for parents to get them ready for back-to-school immunizations,” said Dallas County Health Director Zach Thompson. “Last Saturday, we had free clinics, so today is the final day.”
The county administered nearly 500 immunizations on Friday.
The health department opens for business Monday morning, which is when there's expected to be another line of people with kids who will miss the first day of school.
