Officers shoot dog to stop mauling

McKinney police shot a dog that was attacking a woman.

It happened Thursday afternoon at a home off Eldorado Parkway, east of Highway 75.

Officers said the dog was actively mauling the woman so they shot it to protect her from further injury.

She and her two daughters were taken to the hospital.

Police are investigating the shooting.
