A North Texas single mother of five received a much needed surprise on Friday.

Mayra Torres was left to care for her children by herself last year after a family tragedy. The resulting financial crunch resulted in her having to move in with relatives and giving up her only vehicle.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County stepped in when they heard about the situation. The donation was furnished by GEICO and Caliber Collision in Frisco as part of the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program.

Torres received the keys to a 2016 SUV packed with toys and other gifts at a surprise event.

She now has a full-time job as an administrative assistant and the vehicle will help her as she puts her and her family’s lives back together.
