North Texas Humane Society takes four neglected animals into its care

The Humane Society of North Texas took several severely neglected animals, including one poodle, into its care Tuesday.

In a Facebook post, the society says the animals had been through years of neglect. Their fur was matted down by feces, dirt and urine. HSNT says that it will take hours of grooming and medical care to get the animals, some of which are suffering from skin conditions, in decent shape.

One of the animals is a four-year-old dog named Pierre. He was so neglected that the Human Society said it couldn’t tell his exact breed, but thinks he is a poodle.

PetSmart sent several employees to the shelter Wednesday to shave the animals, free of charge. Pierre's matted fur weighed in at a whopping five pounds.
