North Texans brace themselves for the cold
North Texans are getting ready for the first hard freeze of the season with an arctic front scheduled to arrive Wednesday night.
For many, the first freeze means breaking out all the winter gear that's been tucked away since last winter. People who know the drill are bracing themselves for what’s to come.
The ice rink isn’t the only place you'll likely be doing any slipping and sliding. Cindy Haak isn't taking any chances.
“I don't know if it's going to be icy but making sure my tires are just right,” she said.
There was a wait at many gas stations to get to tires aired up. Later this week will bring the coldest temperatures we've seen in a couple of winters. Everybody's getting ready.
People rushed to the hardware store and bought outdoor faucet covers as fast as the store could restock it. It's one of the single best things people can to keep pipes safe from the cold.
The only question is are North Texans ready for winter?
“I hope we get winter. It kills fleas and ticks and the bad pollen,” said Gigi Ray. “I hope we get it."
If you find yourself without the proper cover for your faucets, home improvement experts say anything that provides insulation is better than nothing. That also goes for landscape plants. Experts say bring other plants and your pets inside.
