Body of missing woman found at McKinney home; man arrested for tampering with evidence

A Collin County man is facing charges after police found the body of a missing woman inside his home.

McKinney police got a warrant to search the home of 42-year-old Chad Stevens Sunday after receiving a tip.

Neighbors sent FOX 4 video of a SWAT team outside Stevens’ home on Pearson Avenue, just north of downtown McKinney.

SWAT officers ordered Stevens out. Then investigators went inside and searched the house.

Police said they found the body of 35-year-old Heather Louise Schwab.

She had been reported missing, but it’s not clear when.

Stevens is now charged with tampering with evidence.

Neighbors said Stevens kept to himself and acted skittish around them.

"Having plastic on his windows, not acknowledging too many people, that’s what it was. Being safe out here with your kids, that’s a big thing. Being parents who have to be aware what your surroundings are and with people like that you have to be suspicious," said Tony Miller, who lives nearby.

Stevens has a lengthy criminal history that includes assault, theft, and drug charges.

One neighbor described Schwab as Stevens’ girlfriend, but police have not confirmed their relationship.

Police said the investigation is still in its early stages. More charges are possible.

Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to call Detective Monte Robertson at 972-547-2724.
