Man with no ticket arrested after boarding plane at DFW Airport

Police arrested a man who got through security at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and boarded a plane without a ticket.

Airport officials said a car parked curbside outside a terminal was searched Sunday night and no threat was found.

But the car’s owner, 26-year-old Damarias Cockerham, somehow got through a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint despite not having an ID or ticket.

He was also able to board a commercial flight before being caught.

According to an arrest report, Cockerham said he was trying to follow his girlfriend to Guadalajara, Mexico.

He told officers he simply walked through the TSA checkpoints and was never stopped. Then he ran onto the plane and refused to get off, the arrest report states.

Cockerham was arrested on a charge of criminal trespassing.

His flight was delayed because of the incident. Terminal D was also briefly closed while investigators searched his car.

TSA spokesman Mike England said the agency is reviewing the case and has added more barriers to screening areas at the airport.
