Man who opens fire on Dallas police injured after cops shoot back

A man was shot by Dallas police after he opened fire on them early Tuesday.

Dallas PD officers were responding to a call about a man trying to kick down an apartment door near Zang Boulevard and Argentia Drive about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Cliff.

Police said a man fired shots at police from a second floor when they arrived. At least one police car was hit by the gunfire.

Officers returned fire and wounded the man. He was taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive his injuries.

No officers were hurt in the exchange of gunfire.

Police said more information about the incident and charges would be announced later.
