Man struck, killed by suspected DUI driver
Dallas police said a man was struck and killed by a drunk driver early Saturday morning on I-635.
Police said around 2:45 a.m., a pregnant woman was driving her 2005 Cadillac Escalade along I-635 and realized she had a flat tire.
Two male passengers in her car checked the tire, and realized they did not have the tools to fix it, according to police.
Police said a drunk driver struck the back of hte Cadillac Escalade at the Coit Road exit..
Another man was knocked to the ground, but the victim, Joel Banaca, was thrown into the air and landed in the middle of the exit, according to police.
Dallas police said when the pregnant woman saw Banaca was not getting up, she started to have pain in her stomach.
The woman was transported to Medical City by Dallas Fire Rescue.
The suspect, 45-year-old Jeffrey Davis, was tested for intoxication at the scene and placed under arrest.
