Man likely drowns while tubing on Lake Grapevine

Searchers returned to Lake Grapevine Monday morning to look for a man who is believed to have drowned there.

Grapevine Fire Department Chief Darrell Brown said the man went under on the lake’s northwest side around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

He was on a tube being pulled by a boat and fell into the water. He was not wearing a life jacket and did not resurface, Brown said.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game wardens are helping with the search. They were out with sonar equipment Sunday but didn’t find anything.

Brown said there are a lot of submerged stumps in that area of the lake that make searching difficult.

The missing man’s name has not yet been released. He is reportedly in his mid to late 20s.
