Man in custody after barricading himself in NE Dallas apartment

Police say a man is in custody after he barricaded himself in a Northeast Dallas apartment with a gun.

More than a dozen police units responded to the Vintage Point Apartments in the 10700 block of Woodmeadow Parkway around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday after a woman said she was physically assaulted and threatened with a gun by her boyfriend. She told police he was still inside the apartment and was armed.

SWAT officers then responded to the scene and secured the area.The suspect, who has not been identified, was talking to police on the phone during the standoff.

Around 8:30 p.m., the man surrounded to SWAT officers without incident. He was transported to the Lew Sterrett Jail and will be charged with aggravated assault family violence.

The woman had minor scratches to her face. The suspect was not injured.
