A man is in custody for vandalizing the lobby of a Downtown Dallas high-rise building.

Witnesses said the man who is believed to be homeless started smashing windows Sunday night while ranting and trying to get through locked doors.

Photos of the building near Elm and Akard streets show the broken window, broken chair and plants tossed about.

Police said 36-year-old Kyle Gaskins was arrested for the crime. He’s facing charges for criminal mischief and vandalism.

A crew spent most of the morning Monday cleaning up the mess. No one was hurt but there is more than $120,000 in damage.

Some residents in the area said they’ve noticed the homeless becoming more aggressive. They welcome the additional police units patrolling the area.
