Local agencies work to get help for more domestic violence victims
DALLAS - Four North Texas agencies joined forces to try and get help for domestic violence victims.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The Dallas Police Department, Dallas Sheriff’s Office, Dallas County Constable’s Office and Dallas County Justice of the Peace pooled a list of resources to help people get out of dangerous situations.
The information will be published on flyers and distributed to the public.
It includes information on how victims can get out of a rental lease free and clear.
"Too many times victims of family violence do not know their legal stance. They don’t know the information to help them to access resources," said Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown.
One of the numbers provided for victims is 1-800-799-7233.
If a phone call is not an option, victims can also text START to 88788.
