Kaboom Town fireworks show to light up the Addison sky Monday night
ADDISON, Texas - Half a million people are expected to head to the tiny suburb of Addison Monday night for the annual Kaboom Town fireworks show.
The Independence Day celebration is something people look forward to every year. About 200 restaurants and hotels in Addison hold special events and watch parties for what is considered one of the largest fireworks displays in the country.
Pyroshows of Texas has spent the past three days setting up 3,000 shells for the firework show. It will last 24 minutes and will be choreographed to music. The finale alone will be two minutes long.
Kaboom Town also features food, games, live entertainment and an air show for more family-friendly fun.
Admission is free. Gates at Addison Circle Park open at 4 p.m. The air show starts at 7:15 and the fireworks start at 9:35 p.m., followed by a live performance by Emerald City at 10 p.m.
Keep in mind the event does bring a lot of traffic to an area that is only about 4.4 square miles. Remember to be patient, plan for the crowds and expect slow cellphone service.
