Injured officer ready to move forward after Dallas shooting

One Dallas officer described the anguish of being pinned down by gunfire and watching his friends go down.

Officer Jorge Barrientos said his first instinct was to reach those fallen colleagues, but also to make sure he was not the next one hit by a sniper’s bullet.

“It was a little difficult to do that because we had bullets coming down on us and we didn’t know where they were coming from at first. So we weren’t sure where to gain cover,” he said. “These were my brothers and I hate to say that there was… I was frustrated because I couldn’t do more.”

Barrientos was wounded in the hand and chest. He ended up wrapping up his hand and getting back to work.

Even after all this is over, he said he cannot hate the killer because he said hate won’t fix anything.
