HS volleyball player's diving save gains nationwide attention

It’s not everyday the nation is talking about high school volleyball. But thanks to one play, Autumn Finney is the most popular high school volleyball player in the country right now. The Decatur High School senior’s heroic efforts in a match against Krum High even landed herself an ESPN Sportscenter highlight in the process.

According to ESPN, she also impressed three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings, who tweeted, "I could watch this all day."

“That was insane! All this news and all these interviews, they don't top Kerri Walsh Jennings giving me a shout out. She's my idol,”Finney told FOX 4.

Autumn plans on going to school before joining the Marines, and colleges are already calling her coach.

“She plays like that every point. So the doors it's opened for her and the opportunities it's given her is really awesome,” said coach Clark Oberle.

Although her team won the point and the set, they eventually lost the match. But that doesn’t matter. Autumn’s belief in herself was on full display, and her hustle was truly inspiring.

“You have to go out and expect to do great things. If you don’t expect to do great things for yourself, who's going to? I mean other people can tell you you’re great all day long, but not until you believe it are things going to change,” said Autumn.

A reminder to us all to dig deep-- And greatness will happen.
