Every Monday, some of the ladies who live in the Meadowstone Place Retirement Center are on ‘Pins and Needles,’ and that's a good place to be. That's the name of their sewing, knitting and crochet group.
The group makes teddy bears for Dallas Police officers to comfort children at crime scenes. They make tiny caps, onesies and baby blankets for newborns at Parkland Hospital. They also make beautiful red scarves for Veterans and for World War II veterans who take the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
The lively ladies laugh and talk while they sew and have a great time. It means the world to them to help others.
Every November, they hold a bake sale to raise money to buy the sewing materials they'll use all year. If you'd like to make a donation to help them knit, crochet and sew, call Paige Burk-Executive. She is the director of Meadowstone Place Retirement Center at (214) 987-0943.
