Grand Champion steer at State Fair sells for $130k

It was a record price for the Grand Champion steer at the State Fair of Texas on Friday.

The steer, named Real Frickin Deal or RFD for short, was bought by III Forks restaurant for $130,000.

The steer’s handler was 15-year-old Laurel Kelley from Yoakum, Texas, which is about an hour north of Victoria.

Kelley received $30,000 for the winning bid. The rest of the money will go to the State Fair of Texas scholarship program.
