First victim identified in deadly Midlothian police chase crash

An 18-year-old was one of the two men killed in a head-on collision in Midlothian Friday afternoon. Garrett Tolliver was in his pickup, on his way home from work, when a van thief fleeing police drove into oncoming traffic on Highway 287 near Plainview Road.

The van's driver also died. His name has not yet been released.

Two people were killed Friday when a police pursuit ended in a wreck in Midlothian.

A DPS spokesman said Ellis County Sheriff’s officials spotted a stolen vehicle out of Waxahachie and began pursuit. It wasn’t immediately clear how long the pursuit lasted.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash – a white van and a pickup truck.

A Waxahachie police official said the white van was the stolen vehicle and it crashed into the pickup head-on. The white van was severely burned and damaged from a fire that occurred. There was one person in both vehicles.

There were a total of three law enforcement units chasing the suspect when the crash occurred.
