Family battling Castle Hills over sinking sidewalk

CASTLE HILLS, Texas - The owners of a home in southern Denton County were told a sinking sidewalk is their problem. And it’s in a pricey subdivision near Carrollton.

The Morelands said their sidewalk in Castle Hills began sinking three years ago. The county water supply district determined there is a damaged pipe on the homeowner’s side of the sewer line.

“I said if you want to give this to me you can. I’ll plan a garden here. It’s a sunny spot. But I want to be able to do with it what I want to do with it otherwise the government needs to take responsibility for their piece of property,” Mike Moreland said.

A quick drive around the same neighborhood shows other failing sidewalks. But, it’s not clear what is causing those problems.
