Divers find missing 15-year-old's body in Trinity River
FORT WORTH, Texas - Divers found the body of a missing 15-year-old boy who reportedly fell into the Trinity River.
Search crews and dive teams returned to the scene near Downtown Fort Worth Friday morning. The teen reportedly fell into the water there while fishing just after 6 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities said the boy was not alone. He was out with a relative who tried to go after him.
Witnesses saw the teen and the relative struggling. They said the relative was able to make it out of the water but the teen couldn't. The relative jumped in again as others called 911.
"He tried going back into the water to look for him. They were screaming his name and nothing showed," said Lesly Garcia, a witness. "They chased him over there to see if they could see a sign or anything, but no."
Firefighters were out Thursday evening with multiple dive teams looking at the scene and down stream. Rescuers were also going up and down the banks on foot.
Family members at the scene were visibly very upset as crews searched for hours. They found no sign of him until Friday morning.
Rescuers said the teen was not wearing a life vest at the time.
