Deputy shot in Spring area, suspect's body found

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a deputy was shot before 10 p.m. Wednesday on Kiplands Way Dr. near Kiplands Bend Dr. in the Spring area.

The deputy, who suffered a wound to the arm, is alert and was taken to Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, according to HCSO.

The suspect remained inside a home on Kiplands Way Dr.

According to HCSO, deputies arrived at the home around 9:40 p.m. to investigate a deadly conduct charge on an individual from earlier Wednesday evening.

After interviewing the individual at the home on Kiplands Way Dr., deputies were placing him in handcuffs and leading him out for the room he was in when he reached into his waistband and pulled a gun and started shooting, HCSO says.

A deputy was struck in the arm. Another deputy was hit in the pant leg, but was not injured.

Another male in the house was hit multiple times and was taken by Life Flight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center.

The man who fired the weapon was barricaded in the home until the SWAT unit found his body inside.

The HCSO homicide unit and Crime Scene Unit will take over the investigation.

Deputies say the shooter's wife was in the home but was later rescued.
