Deadly crash stalls traffic in Downtown Dallas

The investigation of a deadly crash involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler shut down part of a very busy Dallas highway Tuesday morning.

The accident happened around 5 a.m. on northbound Stemmons Freeway at the Oak Lawn Exit.

Dallas County Sheriff's deputies believe the driver in the pickup truck lost control and spun out in front of the 18-wheeler. Then the 18-wheeler crashed through the guardrail and rolled over on the grass.

There were two men and two women inside the pickup truck. One man died at the scene. The three other people were hospitalized and are expected to survive.

A man and a woman were in the 18-wheeler. Both were shaken up, but not seriously hurt.

The two right lanes of the highway were closed while deputies investigated.
