Dallas police see an increase in "juggings"

Police are warning people about juggings, crimes that are trending in Dallas.

The Dallas Police Department's Northwest Division said there have been about six recent cases where vehicles were burglarized shortly after the owners visited a bank to withdraw cash.

The suspects apparently followed them and waited for them to get out before breaking in and stealing a purse, envelope or bank bag, which is commonly called a "jug."

In at least four of the cases, police said flat tires were involved. The money was taken from the unlocked cars as the victims were trying to change the tire.

The locations and descriptions have varied, so there are likely multiple suspects.

Police encouraged residents to report suspicious activity and never leave money or other valuable items in a vehicle.

Mesquite police have had 11 reports of similar incidents over the past three months.
