Dallas police officer injured after being hit head-on by accused drunk driver

A Dallas police officer was taken to hospital after being hit head-on by an alleged drunken driver early Sunday morning.

What we know:

Shortly before 5 a.m., Dallas police received multiple 911 calls for a green 2017 Honda HRV driving north in the southbound lanes of N. Central Expressway.

An officer in a 2020 Dodge Charger was traveling south near Park Lane when it collided with the HRV.

Both the officer and the driver of the HRV, 22-year-old Kalisa Bienvenue, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Bienvenue was charged with driving while intoxicated.

What we don't know:

Dallas police have not released the name of the officer.
