Innocent person killed after Dallas police chase ends in crash, shooting in Red Oak
DALLAS - An innocent person was killed Thursday after a Dallas police chase of a murder suspect ended in a crash and shooting in Red Oak.

What we know:
The crash happened around 10:25 a.m. on I-35 near the Red Oak Road overpass.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says Dallas police officers were chasing a murder suspect into Red Oak when the suspect crashed with another vehicle,
Investigators say one person in the other vehicle was killed, and another occupant was seriously injured in the crash.

DPS troopers say the suspect got out of his disabled car with a gun in hand and tried to run away.
Dallas police officers shot the suspect, DPS says. They provided lifesaving treatment on the suspect, and he was taken to the hospital.
Police said no officers were injured.
Images from SKY 4 showed at least two wrecked SUVs on the side of the interstate, and paramedics could be seen loading several people into the back of ambulances.

DPS is investigating the officer-involved shooting while the Red Oak Police Department is investigating the deadly crash.
The Office of Community Police Oversight is also investigating the incident.
All lanes of southbound I-35 were briefly shut down because of the crash and investigation.

It's unclear what caused the suspect to crash.
