Dallas County deputy sheriff accused of multiple thefts

A veteran Dallas County Sheriff's deputy is charged with theft and accused of stealing from a Garland grocery store eight times.

Police said in seven of those cases he was in uniform.

Deputy Sheriff Darrell Moore, 49, turned himself in for misdemeanor theft.

Over the past three months police said Tom Thumb cameras caught Moore taking ice and drinks without paying. The total value of the losses was estimated at less than $70.

Moore has been with the department since 1989.

The deputy sheriff is now on restricted duty while the case is investigated.
