Dad sentenced for crash that killed kids, girlfriend
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - A man was sentenced to 15 years for the drunken driving accident that killed his two children and his girlfriend.
Demitri Gomez pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter.
Police in August said he was speeding on Interstate 30 near Belt Line Road in Grand Prairie and lost control of the car. The vehicle flipped over the ramp and collided with a concrete light pole base.
Gomez’ girlfriend, 29-year-old Monica Lopez, died at the scene of the crash. His children, 4-year-old Alexxia Gomez and 3-year-old Armani Gomez, died at Children’s Medical Center.
The children were not in safety seats.
