Correction to January 29th report

We have a correction regarding our reporting of a child custody hearing.

On January 29, we reported about a boy, now a 3rd grader, who had multiple surgeries and hundreds of hospital stays while in the custody of his mother. His mother, Kayleen Bowen-Wright, is facing charges of child abuse.

During the court hearing, the father, Ryan Crawford, said his son is now healthy and thriving. Crawford has temporary custody of his son and is seeking permanent full custody.

FOX 4 incorrectly reported that during the hearing that it was stated that the mother had a diagnosis of Munchausen by proxy. We regret the error.

FOX 4 did obtain the affidavit for an arrest warrant for Bowen-Wright. It includes information from medical specialists who treated the child in Dallas.

One group of specialists wrote, "medical child abuse can occur when caregivers fabricate or exaggerate an illness in the child to medical providers."

The arrest affidavit also states "the complainant has suffered serious bodily injury from life-threatening blood infections and ongoing radiation which the complainant has been exposed to since he was an infant due to false or exaggerated statements from the suspect.”

The next custody hearing date is set for April 18.
