The biggest, and arguably best, fireworks extravaganza in North Texas got underway Sunday afternoon.

2016 marks the 31st year for the annual Addison KaBOOM Town.

The hot temperatures took their toll on some who came out early. Organizers say several people had to be treated for heat exhaustion, after waiting in line to get into Addison Circle Park for most of the day. Many of them had been there since 11 A.M.

25,000 people filled the park for the day of entertainment including an air show, carnival, live music, food, and of course, colorful explosions in the sky.

300 officers from a dozen different departments worked the event.

Organizers estimate at least 500,000 people will watched the show from the park and surrounding areas.
