5-year-old Fort Worth girl hit, killed while riding scooter

A young girl on a scooter was hit and killed in Fort Worth over the weekend.

What we know:

Fort Worth police said the accident happened on Sunday afternoon in the 1900 block of Portland Street.

The 5-year-old girl was riding her scooter out of a driveway and rode into the street in front of a vehicle. The vehicle’s driver couldn’t stop in time, hitting the little girl.

The driver stopped and performed CPR on the girl until paramedics arrived, police said.

Unfortunately, the girl later died at the hospital.

What we don't know:

The victim’s name has not yet been released.

Police also haven’t specifically said whether the driver will face charges. However, charges typically are not filed when a driver stops to render aid.
