Under the Dome: Teacher pay, STARR testing and school security

Everyone agrees Texas teachers deserve more. But the sticking point between the State House and Senate is how to get there. Texas Tribune reporter Alana Rocha breaks down the two plans. The Senate is proposing an across the board pay raise. The House wants to put more money in the classroom while also increasing pay, improving retirement and benefits and curbing property tax rates.

Also, the STAAR exams are under fire again and school safety is a big topic in Austin. But this time, lawmakers are not just talking about allowing more teachers to have guns and metal detectors at every door. They're considering mental health care options that would require an extensive network in a state as big as Texas.
