Run 4 Hope in Carrollton
CARROLLTON, Texas- Dozens of runners came out to support children with special needs at the Run 4 Hope 5k Saturday morning.
The race benefits 'Hope 4 Harper.' Harper Howard was born with a rare genetic disorder called CDKL5 Epilepsy. The event started six years ago in an effort to bring further awareness to Harper's disease. It now continues in her memory.
The Howard family is also raising awareness for Real Scientific Hemp Oil, the treatment that helped stopped Harper's seizures.
Harper's mother, Penny, said RSHO stopped the seizures and allowed them to see their daughter's personality before she died.
Proceeds from the race go to benefit scientific research for CDKL5. Harper's brain tissue has been donated for research purposes.
